I think this is too rusty.

I think this is too rusty.
I’ve been monitoring my rear chassis frame rust for a year or two. Was always planning to swap the rear frame when it got too bad.
Car has been mostly parked for the last year.
I fear the issue is now too widespread through the rest of the chassis.
Its up for NYS inspection next week. While it’s very lenient here, I fear the guy is going to quarantine it this time. He is used to me making excuses for it “oh, I’ll get to that frame this year” etc.
Im most concerned with proper corrosion on the front trailing arms, whatever they are called. It’s beyond surface rust.
So, how rusty is too rusty?
Ill post a video soon for everyone to laugh at.

Its more than surface rust. The rear frame has holes you can put your hand in.
The rest has developed over 12 months to be more than surface I think. Whatever chassis was painted, now has rust behind it, pushing the paint off.
The thing i just spotted that really has me worried me is some of the rear brake pipes have corrosion.
Have a look.

strong opinion, appreciate that.
I didn’t show the fist sized hole in the rear.
The passenger side step collapsed.
went to show my inspector and he said he can pass it. He’ll check out the brake lines and advise if he’d put his kids in the car.
im working away for months and the wife has to drive it.

Ok, pleasing to hear a few positive opinions.
I didnt take a clip of the rear frame. But imagine a hole in the lower seam you could slot a pack of cards into. Other side not far behind.
Most of the structural strength of that bit will have gone. Although really dont load anything in the back at all. It just has to hold itself up.
