I take my previous statement back. Wow that is bad. That’s not even repairable. Needs a cut and reweld new piece.
Every 2 months I get this rust proving spray from Canadian tire and get it inside the frame and outside where I see signs of rust
a can is $7 and well worth it

OP - Did you get a quote for the work? Mine are in similar shape - will need to address prior to my inspection next summer.

Work done. Very happy. Paid about $1500 IIRC at a great place called Ortiz Welding in Hopewell Junction, NY.

Car was with them for a few days. For that money I got the whole underside blasted, the welding work to repair the rear frame, also got the whole underside coated in some sticky black stuff which should keep things rust free for years.

Ive gone from thinking the car was scrap to having a good few years.

Shows a little understanding - it can be done.

That is encouraging for those of us in the Northeast! I'm nowhere near that yet, but rust never sleeps. It's inevitable wherever they salt the roads that an unprotected (factory) frame will end up like that without severe attention year in and year out. Especially given that 99% of us are buying these trucks used and at the mercy of the PO(s) habits.

Thanks a lot for following up on this with these pics. You get the internet award for today as far as I'm concerned. Excellent looking work there! Good luck with the truck.
