Default Identify motor

Is there an easy way to tell if a Bosch D2 motor is a 4.0 or a 4.6?

Thanks

That's what I'm asking. Found a guy selling what is supposed to be a 4.6 from an 03, but it's out of the car.

Dusty, did you get the pink lollipop? I thought you might like it, seems like your style

If the heads are off on the lower corner of the block deck there will be a number starting with "40" or "46" to designate the displacement. Otherwise they are essentially the same block. Are you rebuilding or wanting a drop in replacement? Not sure if there is any other way to identify without removing parts from the block.

Motor is complete. I'm buying to harvest the crank, pistons, and push rods for a GEMS rebuild. I'll sell the rest.

I think the crank has a longer stoke in the 4.6. I don't think the block is different - just the crank.

I could be wrong on this one.

I was told it's a stroker crank, pistons have more concave, and the connecting rods are a different length. Besides that block and heads are the same.

for more info read the preview of this:

skip ahead to the 4.0 & 4.6 sections of interest. Lots of other good info there too.

The big question is... Where can we get this book at a reasonable price?
