Default Idiot of the year award

Well guys I’m taking the idiot of the year award. I was moving some cars around including my disco and I have another car that was running and is very loud I somehow forgot the disco was running left for work. I came home to it not running and out of gas. It had a fan clutch issue so I was afraid it overheated but I’m checking the oil and coolant and they look fine but now the car won’t start at all, just keeps turning over . I used the scanner to engage the fuel pump since it’s hard to hear and the lights dim a tad but still won’t start , so what I did was sprayed starting fluid in it it started , ran reallly rough (after putting 3 gallons of gas in ) I turned it off re did it after checking fluids again and the engine was able to idle and move under its own weight but once I turned key off it won’t start again , would this be a fuel pump or did I overheat it and how gaskets , and I already checked the relay and fuse it’s good and I checked the inertia switch

I'ld put more gas in it and try to get it started. 3 gallons isnt enough if the tank was completely empty.

I'm not sure how well these engines are oiled at idle RPMs, but I would guess you put lot of wear on the internals.

Wow that’s a good one. I’d want to check the fuel pressure and make sure the pump is good. I’d imagine it’s pumped a lot of fuel in its life already and pumps don’t like to be run dry. The fan clutch issue sounds like a problem but it sounds like it at least was running until it ran out of fuel

Got it up to a qtr tank if I use starting fluid it will start then run and stay running , but the second I turn it off it won’t start again . I used the Hawkeye to engage the pump I can hear the whining in the rear
heres a video showing it idling strong then me turning it off

Slap it in gear and drive it like you stole it. I'm guessing you sucked some crud from the bottom of the tank

That sounds like the valve in the fuel pump that prevents fuel from draining back into the tank doesn't work anymore. Can you get a pressure gauge on the Schrader valve at the back of the fuel rail?

That depends. Do you, by any chance, have hands the size of a toddler?
