Then you'll have to either take the manifold off or be prepared to bleed a bit.
The alternative is to wait a couple minutes after turning the car off and then disconnect the fuel system at the pump. If you don't get sprayed with gas, the fuel system isn't holding pressure.

Have you inspected the fuel pump? For some reason, that little compartment it's in seems to hold moisture, and when I swapped mine the locking ring was so rusted and swollen I had to peel it off with a prybar. You may need to replace that as well.

Certain year D2’s have a spacer or “adapter” ring beneath that lock ring as well do they not? I couldn’t tell if I needed it, so I had a replacement one on hand when I pulled mine.

Yes, but that ring is rubber, so it won't rust like the lock ring does. When I pulled my fuel pump, I ended up ruining the lock ring so badly I had to rubber band Saran Wrap over the hole in the fuel tank while I waited for a replacement. Don't be like me, kids.
