Default I'm getting my baby back!!

So i joined the USMC back in april, and will finally be able to get my disco back within the next two weeks. Of course i'm gonna go through and do a major tune up, but wanted to ask a question about going into water. What all do you need to do to the disco before you start going in mud/water holes? I'm guessing seal the ECU? if so how do i do that? The last two times i went into water, the engine cut off on me later, and i had to let it dry out, I'm pretty sure i went in too fast. Is a snorkel really necessary? I've seen some videos of discos that didn't have snorkels and they did alright it seemed. I'm not looking to go into anything real deep. Also, I'm getting stationed in Jacksonville, NC; if you guys know of any good spots to go off roading in that part of NC. I saw Camdisco24's post about the trip at Biltmore so if you know any more spots, or the next time y'all are taking a trip like that, would be awesome. Glad to be back.

To be honest, Id take the snorkel over the Waterproof ECU, Either way getting either too wet will cause MAJOR problems. Try LUCKY8 for there sealed/waterproof ECUs and the ARB snorkel... With that you should be able to mud just about anywhere. maybe think about resealing your doors or X-lining your floorpans... Its all up to you about how serious you want to get.

A snorkel on a gas engine is for dust only, you cannot full water proof a gas engine. The plugs get wet and your done.
Its not a bad idea to water proof your ECU, but thats it.
If you drive though the water the correct way nothing under the hood will actually get wet.
But if you stop you are dead in the water, literally.
Start slow, then speed up until you create a bow wake, the bow wake creates a cavity under the front of the truck, so only the bottom of the engine gets wet, nothing up top.
You can help keep things dry buy bungee strapping a tarp to the grill before you get wet.
This will prevent water from coming through your radiator.
I wade all the time and all I do is check my gear lubes for water after wards.
I have not water proofed anything.

That is funny as hell right there.
Just a piece of pipe for a snorkel.
I could not hold my breath that long!
