Default Im have a problem

I have a 99 disco II and my front drive shaft is just free spinning. the truck will not move but the front axle just spins as soon as the truck is put in gear so I believe it is either the differentail, or the axle. or it could possible be the gear box. Because the the truck still want move any body have any ideas?

so your front driveshaft is making complete revolutions but the rover will not move? If that is the case then I'd have to say yeah you've got a busted differential.

You have either busted your diff spider gear, axle or cv joint.
If you send me your tele number I'll walk you thru how to move and check it.

So why wouldn't the rear wheels move the Rover?

All the torque goes to the path with least resistance, in this case no where.

If he crawls under the truck and locks the transfer case, he will find that he can drive it short distances. With it unlocked, you can jack up the front, being very careful and the parking brake securely set, pop it inot gear and see if the front wheels spin. If they don't, it is the diff. If one spins, it is time to check the axle on the side that doesn't spin. You can pop the cover off the diff and spin each tire to see if it spins back to the diff. This will also allow you to check the front diff.
