I'm an idiot!!!
I spent the last couple of days installing a CDL from a DI on my 2000 DII,after getting everything back together I went out for a test drive with the wife. I was going to show her that all of the time that I spent working on the DII this weekend was worth it so I found a pretty steep incline and decided to climb it. Locked CDL,put her in low range, turned the ignition off then back on, went up the incline and decided to try it again, while circling back around I had a loud POP from underneath the vehicle,at the same time the ABS ,TC AND CDL light came on which were not on before the loud pop...then I realized that I read somewhere that you are not suppose to have the CDL engaged on asphalt .. as much as I am scared to ask..... what did I break now? Thanks,CW.

Spike,it still drives fine and makes no strange sounds.
Nite Train, I turned it off then back on to turn off traction control, I believe that is how it works. I only drove it up the incline and a sharp right turn circle, less than 100 feet total. When I was doing the circle it felt like it was hard to turn or something was in a bind.

you are correct thats how to turn off TC..I just usually leave my TC on when I engage CDL.
even weak transfer cases can be driven some on hard surface roads without much damage..ours are tough so I don't see anyway that 100' could damage it unless you were really getting on the gas almost trying to break something. Feeling like its in a bind in 4lo with CDL engaged is normal..I think you're ok...might be a good time to check/change transfer case oil it it's due for a service.
