Default IM readiness

So, I sold a 2003 Disco and got a deposit. In CA it's the sellers responsibility to get a car smogged. The morning I went for smog the battery cable had come loose at start up and the engine did a hiccup start. Looked At the clock and saw the time was wrong. Got out and tightened the cable.

Went to smog station and it didn't pass because the catalyst and evap monitors were incomplete.

I drive the car for over 300 miles and finally the catalyst monitor showed complete. I have also driven the car under all kinds of different conditions and cycles as I have found online.

I have now done 800+ miles and the Evap monitor is still not ready.

No codes or pending codes. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I read it but don't have a clue. I did read of someone having a similar problem on one of the forums being able to trick it right before driving into the place for just long enough to pass and the light came on again just as they were leaving but, don't remember where I read it. sorry!
Maybe in the morning somebody will jump in. I know that's gotta be a pain.

There is no light, no codes, no pending codes! Just says EVAP monitor incomplete. I just drove it for another 40 miles tonight. I'm almost at 800 miles. Called the Autologic techs and they told me to drive the S**t out of it. Thats what I have been doing. I just saw a post from 2012 where a guy put over 1000 mile and still not ready.

I'm supposed to hand this thing over tomorrow. I can't sleep!

Looks like I'm going to wake at 5am and drive to Mexico and back!!!

What happens if you take it through a second time and fail? It might be worth running it through just to see what happens at the smog station. I know here in CT you can still pass inspection with trucks 10 years or older even if you are showing a code or pending code. I know when my 'DII went through emissions the evap code was still pending but I passed the inspection. It may be worth a try.

Thanks Paul, went today and the smog guy said it will not pass if the monitor is not ready. He also added that I run the risk of being flagged if I don't pass 3 times. I don't know what being flagged gets me, but I do t like the sound of it!
