Im in the vin range, what should i do?
my 03 is in the oil pump Vin range, has 94k miles, and has had no mechanical problems except for; a leaking radiator at 20k miles, and leaking head gaskets, just changed. i have a land rover 100k mile warranty (payed by the first owners $1900). Would the warranty replace it before it goes bad?, as it is a design failure, or do i have to pay for it myself. if i don't do anything, will land rover cover it when it fails and locks up the engine even if my warranty is expired? my end vin is A7802312

Ok Ben, I am going to take the high road and help you. I am pulling the stick out of my *** and taking off my stupid cap so that I can answer your questions.
They will only cover your engine if the oil pump fails in the warrenty period. So if it blows up in the next 6,000 milestheyshouldcover it.
But honestly, at your mileage I thinkthat you are ok. They usually go around 40-50K.
No the oil light will not beep or make any noise when it comes on.
If it goes outside the warrenty its all on you, $7,000 for a new engine.
Useually you get warnings before catostrophic failer, oil light flickers at idle when engine is warm kinda thing. Not always but sometimes.
Hope that I answered your questions.

Rover won't pay for anything if it doesn't fail first, they won't pay anything if it fails after the warranty expires.
Chance are at that high a mileage, you won't have any problems.
Change your oil every 3000 miles after your flush the crank case and pray.

RE: Im in the vin range, what should i do?
OK, ill be watching for signs, thanks for the huge help. hopefully it never happens, if it dose id probably just part out the car and eBay the major things. ill always own a land rover though. if i get on the light after 100k and notice it, ill probably just turn the car off in gear, and drift off the road. luckily where i drive there aren't many places w/o a shoulder on the road. try to make it before i toast the engine.
i change my oil every 2000 miles, and use full synthetic. hopefully at lest i can pay off my loan before something like that happens, unlike other Lr owners, i barley make it paycheck to paycheck.

i try to never let it get over 3k, unless it lands on the few weeks in the winter when its under 0 outside, my garage heater only heats up the garage 30 degrease, and I'm not laying on a concrete flow when its freezing =) . i do let land rover do it when I'm in the area of the dealer. the closest Lr dealer is about 150 miles from me, so its a haul. talk about a unique car in the area, i get the stares LOL! Ive learned from reading, always do better then the recommendation with land rovers, snowmobiles, boats, ect. lol
i change it a lot because i pull heaver trailers quite a bit with it.
