I'm worried....
I've driven the Disco as my daily for a week now. No lights have come on, no funny temperatures, no new noises and no water came in when it rained.
Frankly getting paranoid
Frankly getting paranoid
I've owned mine for eleven years this Spring and used it as my daily driver. I don't think you ever get over that paranoia when driving it... always listening for clunks, whines, chirps... looking for steam, smoke, leaks or rust.
Last June I had a major set-back and the Rover spent five months out of service trying to get diagnosed and fixed (front cover/oil pump seal issue). I picked her up in November and the battery promptly died on me at the oil change place WHILE I was over the pit. It was a Monday morning and I was dealing with five cranky guys and one nice one who did everything in his power to get me going again. I drove her to work and parked her there for the entire winter as a storm hit that week and never seemed to end. So now I'M worried because, as excited as I am to get her going again, I know that I have the aftermath of a Rover sitting for close to a year to contend with. I've been waiting for the weather to break and get nicer so I can start her up in warmer weather and slowly. I'm starting with a frozen caliper, a purported ball joint replacement and then a reseal of the transfer case. I'm assuming after that I should look into replacing the entire coolant system and perhaps do the head gaskets. I asked my husband if I could use the garage this summer to tackle the engine and he just looked at me like I had grown horns.
I can tell you this though. I enjoy my Rover much more than the little Jeep I've been driving the past year. I'm thankful to have it as I need to get from point A to point B but it does nothing for me as far as driving excitement. It has transmission issues when it's cold, I have clunks already when it downshifts and the parking brake goes off for no apparent reason giving me a good case of whiplash. Talk about safety issues...
I hope that I can get my Rover on the road again. I think I can - and I'm happy that you're enjoying being in yours.
