Default Error Code P1535

After I bought my 03 discovery, i noticed my air conditioner will not be blowing as cold as it normally does intermittently. The decrease in cold air will only last about 5 to 10 minutes then the air conditioner will blow very cold air like it should. It does not do this evertime I drive the vehicle. I went to get my codes read for another reason today and I noticed this error code:

P1535- Air conditoner compressor request malfunction. ATC requested when not in standby.

Is anyone familiar with this error code? Could this error code be the reason my A/C is doing what i have described above? If so, what would you recomend me to do?

Thanks

Default 03 Error Code P1535 Also

Well late reply by 2 years but I have this code too... and these other 8!

P0130
P0171
P0152
P1129
P0430
P1300
P0308
P0302

I see most pertain to O2 sensors and a couple I cannot find... I also have the 3 amigos but they only come on when I drive at night and turn on the headlights and signal to the left! lol on startup I do hear a wirrring coming from A/C compressor , will have to look closer.. its top pulley in middle of engine and I didn't look at hoses yet to verify... just bought it.. was dark.. lol it goes away.. the dealer I bought it from said it need new coils which they replaced and also wires... "I'm assuming plugs, if not I will... anyway.. occasionally it idles a little rough but then settles out for the most part.... love it so far! has 83k original miles!

I'm not sure the Disco knows what it is either, the book says a request was made to start compressor when it was not in stadby - a rationality check. If it were mine, I would have refrigerant level and PSI checked (if you have your own gauges DIY). See attached from a non-RAVE source - http://jimsrover.afraid.org/rover/di...BD2%20info.pdf

Plugs and wires may clear up some, but you have some O2 codes like 0130 (short) and 1129 (exchanged O2 connector) that may still hang around. See attachment for explanation of 1300 and 0300 series codes.

Well, I just bought it and it was idling rough but it seemed inconsequential .. it ran great otherwise... the mechanic checked it and said one coil was bad and the other was ok but would go out soon enough so he changed em out with new coils and new wires.. I could not imagine they didn't also put new plugs but Ill have to ask.. anyway, it was WAY better and then I realized they must have been using low octane gas since having to gas up allot of vehicles constantly... I filled it up to top with Chevron 93 and it really smoothed up and totally except able... anyway... changed oil to mobile1 10-30 and I installed a new serpentine belt.. was due also... then went to auto zone to use their meter and those were the fault codes... yeah... Ill look into replacing the O2 sensor or testing and also refrigerant... I also seems it might have slightly got less cool this week but hard to tell in south florida its so humid maybe its low on freon and can't remove enough moisture... Ill check that next! sure love this thing! and SO easy to work on! ( even though non mechanic types say NOT! lol )
... also Im trying to upload a pic of my new Alveston Red / Tan Disco II SE 03 but its not allowing me to do so yet... maybe it takes a few days to get fully activated? lol

If you are in Florida, 10W30 might not be what you want, it is only rated by Rover for use up to 90 F outside temp. Next change step up to 10W40 or 15W40. A number of owners run diesel rated oil, because of extra cleaning chemicals in it that get a lot of sludge out from the previous owner. See attached from The RAVE, and you can download the whole set of tech manuals for free at link below.

I live in MD and also have a 03 disco. I use shell rotella T6 5/40 synthetic with a mobil 1 M1-301 oil filter. The engine seems to run smoother but that is my subjective opinion. The reason i went for the M1-301 oil filter is on adivce as its a longer filter so giving more filtration, but as they say y'all pay's your money and takes your choice!

The diesel rated oils have a formula to deal with soot from the diesel process, and they keep this stuff in suspension so the filter can trap it. Regular oil lets gunk sink to the bottom, so to speak. Shell Rotella is a popular brand, cheap and easy to find. If you like syn, they have a 5W40. If you like sin, there's always South Beach...

Many owners change oil at 5000 instead of once a year or 7500 or whenever the previous owner got around to it. Diesel rated oils don't hurt an engine, they just do a better job cleaning it.
