Insurance Quotes for 1998 Discovery
Im looking to renew my auto insurance and I have a 1998 Land Rover Discovery with 89000 miles. Ive had Nationwide for about 6 months. I pay $149 monthly and my renewed rates are $134 a month. I live in DC. Great driving history, licensed since I was 16. Any suggestions on auto insurance from fellow Discovery owners. I currently have liability but am seriously looking into full coverage if I can find something less than $200 a month. Your answers are greatly appreciated.

I would say your location has a lot to do with the rate, best would be to price quote they all use different scales with lots of different variables. I live in a suburb of Phoenix and I pay 215 every 6 months for liability only with geico, I would like full coverage but really can't afford it. I would also like to point out that I have price checked around and no other carrier could come within $100 of my current policy so I am happy!

You gotta remember that age and marital status plays a HUGE role, I'm 22 and single, pay 84 dollars a month for my 98 disco with comprehensive. Some of this guys paying low amounts, i don't know, maybe 38/month, are probably past that "statistical" age of risky driving. ( no offense okdisco, i'm sure you're young at heart, lol)

With full coverage on my '97, my wifes '95 Volvo, and our renters policy through Nationwide we pay $143 per month, this includes towing on her car and full glass on both, and we have a dog so that raises the renters.
To be honest with you, you are better off having a relationship with a insurance agent that you can go and sit across from a desk and talk turkey with.
He gets paid to get you the best policy for the best price.
When I have a claim I dont call a 1-800 number, I call a local number and talk to Jeff or Nichole.
And I got quotes from Gieco and Progressive in the last 6 months, they cant touch my current rate.
And keep in mind that the longer you are insured with Nationwide the lower your rate will be.
Read the fine print on your policy, after 5 years of insuring the same car with them you will save 5% off of your premium, 1% after one year and 3% after 3 upto 5%.
But that is with the SAME CAR, so if you buy a new car after 4 years you have to start over again.
I have had the same agents for 10 years and I will never go with a company that I cant actually sit sown and talk to someone.

Hey everyone,
I went through the bank that i financed my LR thorough and they are giving me spectacular rates. I'm paying $51 a month for full coverage on the LR and $21/month on the Porsche liability only. Its a credit union, don't know if that makes any difference at all, but may be something to check into!
Let me know if that help you out at all!
Take care everyone!

i live in kirkland, wA (seattle suburb) and ins on anything around here is high because their is this belief that since microsof and bill gates reside here that everyone must have F.U. money.
that being said i pay $124 a month for my 04' SE full coverage with my motorcycle and ferrari all on a multi vehicle deal and all full coverage.
so its $124 for the rover, $50 for the bike and $30 for the car as it is under a classic car policy.
this is through country financial ins.
i have motorcycle wrecks and a few speeding tickets in my history as well.
