Default Intake Manifold Fitting

Hi Guys,

Word of caution... this plastic fitting on my intake manifold snapped like a brittle piece of glass today. I'm talking, hardly touched it. I'm sure other Discos of this age are equally brittle.

Does anyone know what size and thread pitch this fitting is?

I tried a few from the plumbing store, but none fit. I'm also considering replacing it with brass- less the experts say no.

I took the pieces of what was left of mine to Lowes and was able to match up a brass fitting there. It's probably like 3/8" or something (not sure) with a standard thread, although I put some thread tape on mine to get a good seal. I number of people have done this, there was a thread about this before that might have the exact size if you search.

Me too. Got an identical replacement in brass from Lowe's. I wrapped the threads with Teflon plumbing tape.

Thanks Guys,

As described above, my existing plastic hose-barb was a brittle mess. During the process of extracting the remaining parts from the throttle body, I must have damaged some of the threads. I re-tapped it, and the new brass hose-barb went in fine.

FYI: Replacement Part (Car Quest)
Milton Industries s602-2
3/8" Male Hose End 1/4" NTP
