Default interior lights blinking

i mentioned in an earlier post my interior lights weren't working along with some other electrical gremlins, but i've found a new symptom ocasinally when i open a door they blink about 6 times. it seems like a timed blink, not a flicker like something just barely getting a connection. is this some sort of default warning or something, i just seems odd being such a steady blink and steady number of blinks.

Hmmmm...sounds like a alarm issue maybe, like maybe it is telling you that someone broke into your truck...do you still have your owners manual?
Does not sound like a short to me either.
Do all of your door switches move freely?
You know, the button that you push in the door jamb?

so I redid my headliner today and got a better look at the wiring with the liner out, the door buttons don't connect strait to the lights completing the circuit. the wire from the lights goes down the front left pillar to under the dash, and I was thinking, they have to connect to a relay or ecu or alarm or something because they have that timing out feature if you leave the doors open. so does anyone know what controls them? I think that may be the culprit.

My rover does the same thing, check fuse 12 under the column. When I replace it the lights act like they should, but it blows after a while, its a multi function unit issue, I have a spare but havent taken the time to replace, my rear windshield wiper doesnt work either, but thats probably because its Wednesday. love rovers.

does that mfu control the defrost and rear wiper and interior lights? by the way the lights work when switched on but not when the doors are opened.
