Default Interior odor

I am looking at a 2004 D2. The car drives fine but from the passenger side there’s an odor that is being emitted. It becomes more apparent when you turn on the AC. My girlfriend became really sick from taking in the smell. She said, it smelt kinda like glue gun melting.

I recall a similar issue when I last had a D2 a few years back. I sold the car because it was making me feel dizzy and sick. (At the time l, I thought it was motion sickness.)

Is this normal?

is it maybe the blower motor resistor? Or heater connector?

If it smells like plastic melting you could have a wire/ground issue somewhere. Take to a pro if you are not confident in your ability

no one else experience this smell? It’s define tho something coming from the passenger foot well that goes through the ac vents.

what AI is telling me is the following-“ the failure is often caused by the blower motor itself drawing too much amperage as it gets old and tired. The increased load creates excess heat, which eventually fries the resistor or melts the plastic harness connector.“

Check wires/hoses/plastic touching exhaust in the engine compartment.

I did have one of these melt due to poor contact and running the blower on high .

Anyone ever have a heater core break?

gemini says it’s the heater core. “That burning glue gun or sweet chemical smell in the passenger footwell of a 2004 Discovery Series II is a classic symptom of a leaking heater core.”

The sweet smell is antifreeze, the burning smell is melting plastic. You could have both for different reasons. Almost 100% chance your heater motor fan is full of leaves for a truck from VA/MD. Remove it first, inspect the plug while you are at it. Look at the resistor connector also, can check them with the a multi-meter. While you are down there you can look for any antifreeze and see if you smell any. Look under the truck for any signs as well. It does not evaporate like water.

Could a bad accessory pulley cause this burning smell or a slipping belt? The accessory belt was squeaking. The car runs and there’s no smoke.

The burning plastic can be smelt on passenger side inside the car and also from the passenger side of the engine bay.
