Did you fill the filter with oil before you put it on?

If the bearings were marginal a dry startup with an empty filter could have finished them off? Just guessing

Funny you say that. When I changed the oil I didn’t fill the filter all the way like I normally do because I find when I do some Spills out when I screw it in
so this time I just put a bit in
the oil light usually comes on for about 2 seconds normally after I do the oil change
this time it stayed on for about 3 seconds longer
I had a weird feeling about it

That shouldn't have done it honestly. Heck most people just slap the oil filters on without a drop in them. Anything under 10sec is considered normal for the oil light upon a cold start/oil change. How many miles are on this LR?

Something wore out internally. It could be a cracked/broken oil pump gear. Clogged pickup, bad O-Ring, but only tearing into it will give a true diagnosis.

That’s for sure however after reading a lot of posts from this forum and others going back a few years
with this problem spent money replacing the oil pump to have the same symptoms
from readibg in most cases it’s not the pump
