If it's not the pump it's bearings, but the oil pump gears have certainly been known to crack over the years in the LR V8. If that was the case = cheap fix.

I still say try thicker oil when you change it out. Normal wear could make that thin oil just a tad too thin... and thin oil can lead to wear... So...

I think it’s to late for that whatever happen it’s now showing it’s uggly head

didn’t even get to try my new cdl with the local rover club

from all the research I’ve been reading if low oil warning comes on when warm hot it’s most likely bearings.

@redwhitekat it is just age stuff breaks and never when it is convenient, remember our Discos' are 15+ years old. But we have a couple of Disco 1's and 3 Disco II's and we all go out pretty steadily.

Don't know if you saw this video but pretty typical for us, this was the most "exciting one":

I know however it’s just frustrating to see it happen. Let alone the small things that go wrong
now this is a main thing
I don’t think I’ll sell it but I’m in no rush to fix it

but like I said here in Toronto 90 % of the rover club got rid of the disco, I was told they were not reliable to many gadgets to go wrong and they all ditch them for probably the same reason I’m in now
they all drive defenders
I can’t afford a defender and I like the comfort of my disco
I might get someone to inspect it but I think the ultimate plan is to get a long block from Atlantic British when I can

If you change to thicker oil and the oil light goes out then you pretty much know the problem is "normal wear" and you can continue on with thicker oil for quite a few more miles.

If you change to thicker oil and the light still comes on then you know you have bigger problems...

Cheap test.

And even then you are freaking out prematurely, which is understandable. You literally know nothing until you do as Best4x4 mentioned and pull it apart.

That light flickering doesnt mean you need a new engine... At least until you do the actual diagnostic work, which you haven't.
