Default Intermitttent A/C....

While driving my 96disco the past 2 times I turned my A/C on and it would not kick on right away. After turning the fan speed up and down it would finally kick on then it was going on and off intermittantly. I could here a relay clicking on the passenger side footwell too. Anyone have this trouble?

I"ve had a similar problem with my 96. Now my switch is stuck in high but no fan. I've read on different forums that this is a common problem with the switch.

Well when you say the A/C isint working do you mean the HVAC fan or the A/C compressor?
Your answer is important on this. Two different issues.

Fan works, but a/c kicks on and off. Light on the switch goes on and off.

Recharge your A/C. Go to the store and buy a A/C recharge kit. Follow the instructions. It is a really easy 15 min job.

Think it just is low on Freon? Thats what I was thinking. When it does work though it is cool. How much Freon does it take?

The recharge kit will come with 2 cans and a hose and a PSI gauge. Whatever you dont use today you can save for the next time. It wont go bad.
And it isnt freon anymore, it is R-134. Freon was outlawed in the early '90's.
You are looking at about $30 for the kit.

I will probably go to my local mechanic cause he has a special now for a evac and recharge for $39.99. Just did it on my 95 BMW 525i and it made a big difference.
