Iphone App coolant Temperature numbers a wee bit high?
Purchased an ELM327 WIFI to use with the iPhone 4.
Installed a free App to test connectivity..etc.
While driving, once it warmed up stayed around 195-200, when I arrived home and sat in the driveway, moved upwards to 207 [see PIC]
All you guys talk about running 185-190 in the winter? ( I am in Denver)
Is an OEM thermostat, which I have, going to allow the coolant temps to move over the 200*? (thermostat new about 8 months ago)
Removed the Dexcool several months ago. Can't be certain I have a good 50/50 mix of the new stuff... added the water wetter to.

The factory stat is rated to start to open at 179 and be fully open at 204F. Now that temperature would be inside the stat, not inside the manifold where the sensor is. So the sensor will read a little higher than the thermostat. You moved up to 207 because you went from moderate load with road speed to match to idle and fan only. The fan airflow at idle is nothing like what you get at 50 mph. Your flow of coolant slowed also, the water pump speed depends on engine rpm. Your cooling system is in pretty good shape because it is operating within the temperature range of the themostat, as opposed to going into the 215 - 220 range and staying there.
Seems like you are doing pretty good on this, I like a cooling system that lives within the range of the thermostat, as opposed to one that runs crammed up against the edge all the time.
BTW - it will be 72F here tomorrow.

AHH, a little piece of mind. Thanks Buzz.
In the three years I have owned this truck I have NEVER once noticed the auxillary fan kick on.
72F, that is golfing weather!
Forecast for the Broncos/Ravens game on Saturday... Highs barely 30F.
