Issues with Land Rover Discovery 2003 SE7
Hi guys, so about 2 months ago my Land Rover Discovery(2003) SE7 broke down on me it would crank but wouldn't turn on my first reaction was that i needed a new battery so i bought a brand spanking new battery and still it wouldn't turn on. I called a mechanic to come check it out and he started of by saying that maybe the problem is the ignition coil cause there's no spark in the spark plugs so i went ahead bought an ignition coil and brand new spark plugs, and nothing. Same mechanic guy came again and apparently he now knew what the problem might of been and he said I need a new fuel pump bought the fuel pump he replaced it and still nothing. After this point i just lost all hope so I called in a tow truck to take my car to another mechanic but this time to a shop, now this guy is basically telling me that there's no power going to the fuel pump and he thinks that its the key that's the problem because i haven't been using the original key for the Land Rover because the guy i bought it from sold me the vehicle with just a spare key. The mechanic told me i need to buy an original key because the computer is not reading the spare, so i called my local dealer and they said it would cost me roughly like $300 for the key plus the programming, do you guys think i should get it?

I don't think it's the key, no chip to my knowledge. I would have to say sounds like at crank position sensor. It's in behind a cover on the drivers side of the engine going into the bell housing like the starter does but on the opposite side. Just make sure you put the little spacers on right when you change the sensor. Should only take about 30min.
Good luck!!!
No fuel pump and no spark sounds like a classic crank angle sensor failure.
Like Groverdisco mentioned above, you'll find the sensor behind a cover on the driver's side, behind the exhaust manifold.
Be sure to reassemble the the spacers and cover in the order you disassembled it. You can find the sensor at your local auto parts store.
Good luck, and be sure to reply back to let us know if this sorted out your issue!

Always check the CPS when the engine cranks, but won't start. (I actually listen for the fuel pump to prime when I turn the key on first, just because it's easy)
If you have a scan tool with live data, you can watch the engine RPM while cranking. If you get no reading, there is more than likely a problem with the CPS.
