so i have a 2002 disco and it idles fine but when i go in r or d i jerks, any thoughts i hope none of them involve tranny, but could low tranny fluid cause this?

 

so now it doesnt do it, fluid is good but i can hear the tranny like clunk in gear.

 

Have you ever had the front drive shaft rebuilt, if not sure crawl under and see how many grease fitting you have on the front drive shaft.
In the mean time, don't drive the truck.
By the way, how many miles on it and how often do you grease the front drive shafts?

 

put in a custom grease fitted drive shaft after the first one snapped and cracked the tranny housing like 2 years ago and i havent greased it since, oops, will be doing that this afternoon. i know i know. it has around 120K miles.

 

Since they have not been greased in 2 years you will most likly need a new driveshaft again.

 

They are supposed to be greased tw1c a year or every other oil change to be safe.

 

so even just in and out of a parking spot i noticed it, but when i waited an hour it didnt do it again. would it still be the drive shaft and not the tranny? or yet the transfer case?

 

You need to check all over your driveline fluids to make sure that theya re full.
Also check your tire pressure, if one or more tires are low it can cause stress on the driveline.

 

Check the rear roto flex wheel and make sure it is not cracked, it is between the rear drive shaft and the differental.
