The Discovery platform is amazing, LR's execution was not so amazing hence the plethora of enthusiast forums and fix-it write ups. They are definitely cut out for those who don't mind or even enjoy constantly tweeking, fixing, tinkering, and improving their ride. If you're not one of those that's understandable, buy a Toyota.

I made $300 extra in cash this month.
How?
By not driving a D2 to work and back.
No money spent on 15 MPG.
Miss the D2.
Do NOT miss the 15 MPG.

I will echo that.
I drive a Prius for work and such trips
If I had a plug in Prius I wouldn't be paying for pump fuel anyway.

Almost every day I drive an LR, be it a D2, RRS or sometimes a Pajero 2.8TD. I can honestly say I have a long standing 'love affair' with 4x4's. Admittedly, they are all 'oilers', diesels, which suits me fine. I would love to have a supercharged gasoline RR but the financial penalties are far too great this side of the pond. There are some cars I think I may like but I honestly believe they wouldn't get serious use regularly. Maybe when I get older I'll settle for a Jaguar XKR, AM DHC, BMW or Mercedes DHC or something like that just to cruise the autoroutes in style but until then the 'love affair' continues.

I echo that.
I am lying in wait crouched down like a big cat to pounce on a meal.
Waiting for the perfect Discovery in Distress to show up on my radar.

A nice juicy 2004...
With issues.
to knock the price down down down

You can take the man out of the Discovery.
You can't take the Discovery out of the man.
