Default Just bought a roof rack, not sure what brand?

I was looking at craigslist and I found someone advertising a 2004 roof rack. I called them and they said they were going to try and modify it for a cherokee but found out that it would be to much work. He didn't know what brand it was but I thought that it looked like a safety device rack. I drove a couple of hours to look at it and I mounted it on my rover. It looks like it is to short so I think it is for a D1. I paid $500 dollars for it and it looks like it is in great shape. What do you guys think?

Certainly looks like a SD rack to me.
Good find, looks good. And yes, its for a DI, but still looks good on a DII IMO.

Thank you, I seemed like to good of a deal to pass up. It only has a few scratches and a couple of barely noticeable dents. The only rust I found was where 2 of the bolt holes were stripped. I think that I can just put some new threads in it. I did have problems installing the allen screws for the mounts. It seems like part of the rain gutter is in the way. What would be the best way to fix the problem?

Oddly, I'd swear I just read a thread about that very rack -- someone thinking about shortening it for their Jeep, then finding out it had some pedigree, and deciding to sell it -- *on this very forum, earlier today*. It may not have been here, but it was definitely today. :-)

Because there are non out there to be had for any price that I am willing to pay or any distance that I am willing to drive.
I have found DI SD racks for $500-700 but they are all to far away.
Costs to much to ship and if I drive 1000 miles round trip then I may as well have bought a brand new Voyager roof rack for $800.

I dont have my DII SD rack yet, I plan on going to get it in 2 weeks.

It looks nice. I seems like its an SD rack. The roof mount brackets are triangular in shape common in SD. If you think its short, I would mount a jack in the rear to compensate that area in the back.

Hey Spike, too bad you weren't closer because that would have been great. I do remember reading your thread about that a few weeks ago. If anyone is in So Cal and would like to trade let me know. If not I might see how the jack would look in the back.
