Discount tire also has a tire calculator on their web site that helps you calculate the exact difference in tire size when going bigger. I have found it to be very handy when trying to figure out what fits.
I will try to post some pics tomorrow.

going from 65 to 70 how much higher will that lift the truck? 1/4-1/2 inch? I have to be careful, my garage is only 7 feet....I don't have a lot of room to grow...don't want the wife to pull out with the rear sunroof open and take it off! lol!
You should be OK unless you lift it. I've got the OME suspension lift with 265 75 16 tires on my 01, and it just fits throught my garage door! If the rear sunroof was open, I'm sure it would hit.

Hey guys, I have a 2000 disco and was curious to know if 265/70r16 would fit without a lift and not cause too much of an issue. It has the stock 255/65r16 now. I want some more tire but can't do a lift... At least not yet. I can't seem to find a good mud tire without spending like 800 - 900. Treadwright has the guard dogs for 460 shipped to my house but only in the 265/70r16.

Thanks in advance.

From the replys by the pro's on here (I am not one) they will tell you a 265/75/16 is to much for a stock suspension and you need to lift it. My 255/70/16 at 30 inches don't rub but don't think I could put anything larger. I just dont want a lift..just a little more ground clearance. Use the calculator in the thread and check. I have heard 30 to 31 inches is max for stock suspension.

Yes, I have been trying to read around on here as much as possible before I open my mouth and have read the 265/75/16 is too much.....31.6" The 265/70r16 comes in at 30.6" from the tire calculator. I just haven't read or at least seen a post, yet, where someone ran the 265/70/16 with a stock suspension. I noticed you run the 255/70 with no issues but all the mud terrain tires I have found in your size are damn pricey and the Treadwrights are CHEEEAP but don't have the tire that I would like in your size.

Thanks man.

I ran 265/70/16's on my stock '99 D2 with no issues and probably could of fit a 31" tire without a lift. I'll be running 265/70/16 or 265/75/16 Treadwright Guard Dogs on my '02 once I get my tax return.

Awesome. That's the tire I am planning on getting. Even under articulation they were okay? I don't do tons of off-road driving buuuut when I do, I do it right. I would rather save the money on the lift and put in the CDL shift linkage.

I didn't get a chance to try the tires off road before I sold the '99 D2. I did drive one side up a 14" curb to see what it would do and nothing rubbed.
