But I didn't change coil packs and still have a misfire. So another gasket and coil packs on order. There is always a challenge.

Relocation kit is nice, but once you’ve done a few wire/coil jobs it really isn’t hard at all.

When I do work for people I get them to do new wires & coil packs at the same time. I had a guy refuse and just had me change the wires, he was back with another misfire within a month. Turned out to be a bad coil, recommended I do both, he refused, and 3 months later he was back again with a misfire on the other original coil pack....

He paid my labor x3 when it could have just been x1. I wasn’t complaining about the extra $$$ I made, it just took time away from other jobs I had going on. After that he’s been good to go for nearly a year now.

Since I deleted A/C, I wonder if I should try and use that space to mount up the coil packs. I'm replacing the injectors this weekend so that should give me a good idea on how much of a pain the upper manifold is. I haven't taken it off since my original teardown when I had no clue what I was doing

With SAI it sucks a lot more. Pretty sure the RAVE has you doing a bunch of unnecessary steps, but it does involve dismantling both SAI air manifolds. The stock design had studs on the upper intake which made it impossible to wiggle the manifolds out of the way of the intake, but I replaced those with bolts so I think I should be good to go there.

I guess the part that really sucks is that hard coolant pipe coming off the lower intake manifold. Had to pop that off which meant dealing with coolant / bleeding again. I had a split second of "maybe if i cut this mount off, it'll make things easier later" but ended up leaving it. The SAI plate on the passenger side couldn't come off the upper IM because the hard pipe was placed on the outer side of the SAI plate -- wasn't enough play to get it off without unbolting that coolant pipe.

The vertical pipe for the heater core, or the thicker pipe on the front of the manifold? I forgot about the vertical pipe... I do remember that one being a major ******* - but IIRC that was for taking the valve covers off

I think they are both the same size

The pipe i'm talkin about exits the lower intake mani right behind the alternator -- you'll see it when you start taking off that SAI support plate bolted to the passenger side. Make sure the rubber gasket is in good shape while your there.

Nah, the one that exits the lower intake is way beefier. That's funny, after tearing down the engine to the heads in the truck, and then doing a full rebuild, the one and only part I never dismantled was that pipe off the lower intake haha. So it must be possible

I had to take it off / loosen it when doing my stuff so maybe my truck is just MORE difficult than yours lol
