Just serviced the ACE - Now the light comes on
So I just serviced my ACE a couple weeks ago along with changing my power steering fluid. Everything was good until today. I did notice that before I did the service, when I first cranked the truck the lights would go red and then orange very quickly. After the service, the power steering light acted the same, but the ACE light would stay red for slightly longer, then turn orange and turn off. Well today, the ACE light came on orange and just stayed. I am guessing I need to get a special scanner to read the codes? Is there anything I can do a preliminary check on? I did check fluid level and it is full.
I bought 9 quarts of Prestone power steering fluid. No where around here had any sunthetic like Valvoline or anything like that.
I drained each reservoir of old fluid. Put in new fluid to the full line. Put the caps back on. Cranked the truck. Turned steering wheel from full left to full right. Shut it off. Drained and repeated. Once I had gone through just about all nine quarts the fluid was looking pretty clear so I figured that was good and added some Lucas steering additive to the power steering reservoir only. Not sure or not if it would do anything to the ACE system so I didn't put any in there.
Incidentally the light turned off this afternoon and hasn't come back on. Still stays red longer though on start up. No leaks from what I can see. Fluid reservoir has stayed full since I filled it up. I did take the cap off and then put it back on...

Hey Mike. Ya the fluid is swirling like before. The light hasn't come back on at all since that one time a couple days ago. I am assuming it's fine but will continue to keep an eye on fluid level and such. Thank you for the help! Hopefully it the light will stay off!! Now to tackle pads, rotors, and ss brake lines this weekend...
