Default K&N Air Filter

Any Benefit in putting in a K&N Re-useable Air Filter into a 2002 Disco 2 with 60K. Heard conflicting reports.

This topic has been beaten to death, do a search and if you still don't believe they will cause you some problems, buy one and watch what happens.

Not only will it kill your MAF but you will not net any MPG or HP and you will never recup the cost of the filter and filter oil.

I ran a K&N for a couple years. I still don't believe the oil will kill the MAF, that is a flat out myth. K&N states on their website that if the oil Does cause the MAF to fail they will pay for a new one and the installation fee. However the K&N filters allow TONS of dirt into the engine. That is why I stopped using K&N and will never use one again. The dirt it allows in your engine does a lot of damage.

My Disco came with a K&N and I replaced it with a stock filter immediately.

At least with a D1, since it does not have the Bosch MAF, it is less likely to be a problem, that being said, they are still a very inefficient filter allowing a ton of dirt to pass thru into the engine.
