I have seen alot of Rover owners try K&N's, I did, and switched back after loosing 2 MAF sensors which are too sensitive to use with oil treated filters.
I swear by their oil filters, I have been using the 3001 oil filter for the last 3 years.

Your are right, they make a super oil filter.
They make a good air filter, they are just not real compatiable with Rovers, and at $140 in parts for a D2 MAF and nearlt $600 for a D1, you work the numbers.

K&N AIR filters are "oil treated".....and (from what disco mike is saying) can mess up your MAF...

K&N OIL filters are excellent.

Thanks for the help DiscoMike.

I've been running a K&N in my '98 disco for a few months now with out a problem (I assume a MAF failure would be fairly obvious, maybe I am wrong). I will definatly keep more of an eye on things to see if there are any problems.

Next oil change is when I am coming up on time to clean and re-oil the filter, so maybe I will just swap it out with a paper one instead.

For what it could cost you to replace a MAF for your truck, you can buy lots of good quality air filters and gas. There is hardly any saving when using a K&N except at highway speeds and then it is very small, your engine oil gets lots dirty much quicker, it is not worth the risk.
