Default Keep '03 Disco or sell for a RR?

We have a '03 Disco SE-7, loaded including factory DVD, good tires and (after recent ABS bypass wire and overlay harness) no amigos or warning lights. The VIN DOES fall into the TSB range for oil pump failure and our Disco has 77K miles. Currently runs very well with no visible problems other than a couple normal UK oil drips.

Even though my local independent tech says oil pump failures happened early in life and if mine has not failed yet it probably wont'...I'm stressed every time I fire it up.

So I'm thinking...sell it now for ~ $7500 while it's looking and running good and get the wife into a late P38 RR (2001-02) or a early L32 ('03-'04). We definitely want to stick with the LR brand - our '03 is our 3rd Disco and we enjoy them greatly. I would go for a '04 Disco but it sounds like the oil pump failure is common across the '03-'04 range.

Ok folks what would you do and why?

If you cringe turning the key I think you should move on. That doesn't sound like an enjoyable ownership experience. What do you really want--why not another Disco if they are good--otherwise they are all really cool vehicles.

Wifey will be happier with the RR. Disco = Boys Truck. Range = Wifes Truck. They are more cozy, and gives wifey more car park cred...

Even though I am biased to the RR. I would definitely recommend a late model P38. As for the L322, they have less mechanical issues than the P38, but definitely have more electrical issues. I personally love the L322, but don't have the money to buy, insure, and maintain one. I do like Discovery, I almost bought an 03 myself. However, if you cringe when you turn the key, then its time for something different. Whether it be something else or another Discovery.
