Never mind my reply above. I forgot our Disco's don't have a key detector or whatever in the steering column that newer keyless entry cars have.

Many newer vehicles use keys with RFID chips in the key that the vehicle computer must be programmed to recognize, including for the "valet" keys that have no keyless entry capability. My son's 2010 RAV4 is an example of that. The DII does not use RFID keys. That's why you can buy an ILCO RV4 or RV4-P and have it cut at your local hardware store and it works with no programming required.
