With these "flip" cases do you need to get the blank cut or can you just swap the cut piece and electronics from the original key into the new case?

You need to get the blank cut.

Man, I missed a lot during the day. :U

Fortunately it seems every question has already gotten answered, saves me some typing at least. :P

As for the spring, it does have to go counter-clockwise. I also wound it up two revolutions versus just one. It makes the key swing out with a much more "quality" feel in my opinion.

Yeah agreed, I wound it up once and it didn't swing out quick enough.

Can anyone report back after getting the key cut? I would like to know if this is something that can be done at Lowes. Thanks

It appears that this version of the remote would allow the already cut, original key part to be switched over to the new case:

Can anyone confirm that the original key part of their old remote WON'T fit in these new cases?

haha yes, I can confirm that it can not! You would have to weld the new key on to the rotating corner piece.

Hmm, they both show separate blank keys though. I think it may be the same. Grammar is not the best, obviously. To everyone who has gotten the first one, does it come with a blank key, and has anyone tried to swap the original key into it? Thanks.
