Default Key lock issue with driver's door. Just replaced Door Latch Actuator Assy

Good people,
Just replaced my door latch / actuator in the driver's door of a USA Discovery II.
I though that went all OK.
I can unlock and lock the door with the remote now..

But!!!

Put the key into the lock and tried it.
felt odd.
Could not lock/unlock the door as I used to be able.

Then, I kept trying and whatever was connected to the lock cylinder is not connected now.
Key just goes back and forth with no resistance.

When I took this apart, there was a rod from the door handle down to the
latch / actuator assy.

I don't recall another rod from the door handle/key assy down to the actuator.

But, there must be.

Could not find any good pictures in the RAVE manual.

Are there two rods from the door handle/key assy or just one?

Any ideas?

Many thanks,
J

This drawing from page 1330 of the RAVE shop manual shows two, I think.

Savannah,
Thanks a lot for the help on this one.
Thanks for that great PDF..
Yes, I looked at the PDF.

There was indeed another rod.

That rod comes right off of the key lock cylinder and goes into the latch at the top.

I had totally forgotten about that.

Well, took the door apart again.
removed the door handle by taking out the single torx screw and pushing
the handle toward the front of the truck.

Just removed it a bit to get the rod into the slot on the latch assy.
the rod is like a phillips screw driver on the end.
Well done..

Door back together.
Thanks to you.

Thanks again,
J
