Key Prgramming
I have a master key with remote and want to add another. I have purchased a brand new key wtih remote from my local dealer. Is there a way that i can program that key myself, or is going to the dealer the only option? Thanks in advance for any help.
YEAH U CAN PROGRAM IT YOUR SELF VERY EASY
1. ENSURE THE VEHICLE IS UNLOCKED AND DRIVER AND FRONT PASSANGER DOORS ARE CLOSED
2. INSTALL A KEY/REMOTE HANDSET IN THE INGITION SWITCH, AND THEN TURN THE IGNITION SWITCH TO POSITION I AND BACK TO POSTION 0 IN LESS THAN 5 SECONDS TO PUT THE BCU INTO THE INITIALIZATION MODE.
3. REMOVE THE KEY/REMOTE HANDSET FROM IGNITION SWITCH
4. PRESS AND HOLD THE UNLOCK BUTTON DOWN (BASICALLLY WHEN IT STARTS BLINKING) @ THE SAME TIME PRESS THE LOCK BUTTON THREE TIMES .
5.THEN LET BOTH BUTTON GO
MOMENTERLY IT SHOULD START BLINKING SLOWLY
REPEAT STEP 4 AND 5 WITH ALL OTHER REMOTE HANDSETS WITHIN 30 SECONDS
THAT WILL BE IT PROGRAM KEY WITHIN MINUTES A 140DOLLAR SERVICE

If it is a D2, you must take it to the dealer only.

when I bought the truck (used) they gave me only 1 key.... I just hope I'm not going to loose it.....
You can get a standard key made, without a remote pretty cheaply.
If you are patient, you can find the proper two button remote on e-bay for around $50, closer to a $100 from the dealer. Then you have to get them programed, about $100 from a dealer a little less from a smaller Rover shop if they have the proper scanner to do the job with.
