Keyless entry receiver module location?

Keyless entry receiver module location?
Does anyone know where the keyless entry receiver module is located on a 2004 Disco? I want to look at it myself and see if there are any loose connections before I commit to having my mechanic replace it. Keyless entry is not working, and they say the receiver needs to be replaced. Also, is it possible to just buy a used receiver and swap it out?

I'm not sure where it is. If you got a used one, I'm not sure it would be compatible with the rest of the cars computers. At a minimum the key fob would have to be re programmed.
Your name is OCMike, are you in Orange County Ca? I have an autologic, it's supposed to do everything, maybe I can help you to diagnose it?

I'm going to look at it when I have time, to see if the connection is loose or corroded.

Wow... $120! It only takes 5 minutes to re-program it on my Nanocom:

Yep. I'm in Tustin. I ran the Rover over to West Coast Rovers yesterday, and they said they're not getting signal from the alarm/keyless entry module. Just talked to them on the phone this morning and asked if a working used module can be swapped out and reprogrammed. They're not sure, but thought it should work. They gave me an estimate of about $350 + another $120 to reprogram the keys.

They're $hittin' you
The module can easily be replaced with a used module, which doesn't require programming to the vehicle, or the keys re-programming.
Sit in the 2nd row of seats, remove the trim around the rear sunroof, and you can pull the headlining down at the front of the rear sunroof and reach the module.
It's clipped to a bracket on the inside of the roof panel, using 2 x plastic rivets.
The receiver module is callout #7 and the plastic rivets are callout #8
Part numbers are here - Land Rover parts
I used a pair of electrical side-cutters to remove the plastic rivets - levering them out, not cutting them - which were OK to re-use with the new (2nd-hand) module.
In the UK, you can pickup the modules for around £10 - this is because the Rover 75 used the same module, and the scrap yards are full of them.
You use a different frequency to us - 315MHz (we use a 433MHz module).

WOW! Thanks Paul, Jafir, and acg! That all helps A LOT! If I can get this done myself, with the help of abran, I can afford a few mods. (adding a bluetooth to the stock radio, adding a back-up camera, installing a sleeping platform with storage drawers)
