Default Keyless Entry Remote

I have a 1999 Land Rover Discovery and recently the keyless entry remote stopped working. I changed the battery and it still doesn't work. Do I have to buy a new one or is there a way to fix it?? Thanks

read the owners manual on how to reprogram the fob with the car, after you change the battery in it you have to reprogram it, i dont know how in a 1999.

All I needed was to add remotes to my receiver. I got new units for about 1/3 dealer price for my 94 & 97 Discovery on -

http://www.ThePartsYouNeed.com

They seem to have remotes & instructions for everything on their site.

Will any year remote work or does it have to be a '99?

Bait,
I've seen you refer to Test Book. Is that a dealer program, or is it available for purchase?
thanks,
jroy

I have switched out my batterys in the remote for my 99 D2 and did not need to have it reprogramed. You might want to recheck that you put the batterys in in the correect direction and that the contacts are clean.
If you need a new remote, look on E-Bay, I have seem really good prices for them quite often. If you need a new one, you will have to have the dealer use their test book to reprogram the ecu.
Make sure you buy a new remote designed for the 99 or similiar vehicle, I don't believe a different design unit will work on your truck.
Mike

Test Book is a dealer tool but an alternative is available. It's $15,000 and will be obsolete in about a month. New tool, $30K. Get ready...

My '95 Disco came with NO batteries in the key fob. Can anyone tell me which batteries I need to pick up?
