Default Land Rover D2 gear change problems

hi all I have a 2001 disco 2 I have had the front drive shaft (front prop shaft) replaced about 8 months ago due to it snapped and also the transmission was done at the same time. Since then iv had no problems with her until today coming up the blue mountains I had stopped at a red light and when she was changing between 1st and 2nd (auto) there was some shudder or shaking but not bad but it doesn’t do it all the time last time this happened it was really bad shaking and in the long run the drive shaft let go and F***ed every think in its path I’m concerned the drive shaft might be on the way out again but want to see if anyone else has had this problem and what else it could be other then the front drive shaft

Was the trans a rebuild or used? Have you checked your trans fluid lately? Is the new driveshaft a serviceable model, that needs greased? If it'd s a serviceable driveshaft, should be greased every three thousand miles, or more, depending on use.

Sounds more like driveline slack or TC issue.. I'd check your Transfer Case fluid. If the TC is acting up it'll cause all sorts of symptoms that could mislead you into thinking it's the transmission.

It does sound like the auto trans has burned out clutches IMO. Check out your ATF for colour and smell. If it's dark brown and smells like burned toffee it is most likely the clutches. With the autobox out it's easy to replace them.

The only Blue Mountains I know, having been there, is those near Sydney in Aus.
