Default Land Rover discovery 2 roof rack solution

Found this rack on ebay for $90.00 shipped to my house. It's a van, ladder utility rack. very strong, rated for 500 pounds, all metal parts.
Cross bars are adjustable.

Modifications:
It was white so I had to paint it. I also had to drill new cross bar holes. I chose to drill them 3" above the roof, giving it enough space to open the sun roof when the RTT is mounted. The side bracket are 14" total length. This gives you more than enough room with the Disco roof.
The mounting system needs to be slightly bent to fit the Disco roof gutters. It was very simple and easy with the vice in my garage.

I also fitted my hi-lift jack using the old cross bar holes. Very happy with this purchase. I owned the Thule 953 rack prior, it was OK but did not sit hi enough over the roof.

Tools needed for mod:
1/2" metal drill bit
vice to bend the pieces.

Thanks, I can't wait to get the RTT mounted. I'll update with pics when it's up.

HMMM, I'll have to think about that. I may be interested. On a side note, DO NOT buy the yakima gutter system with extended arms. It is a piece of SH%T. The Thule is the way to go.

Maybe PM me and offer and that might help me think about it more.

Default update

Hi, just updating with some new photos. I purchased another pair of bars and now have 4 total. Just installed the RTT and Roof rack last week with hi-lift jack. The only thing left is to modify my awning to fit the rack which I'll be doing this weekend.
Again I'm very happy with this purchase and with a slight bit of labor on your end you can also have an awesome heavy duty roof rack set up.
The attached photos are not the greatest. If you want anything with more detail, just ask and i'll try to snap some more.

P.S. I don't know why these damn photos are upsidedown, I've tride to flip them twice and have now given up, sorry.
