I am able to view both RAVE and the microcat online catalog through Linux. I'm sure they are Windows compatible, and probably run on a Mac with the proper software, also.

I'm assuming since this is dated 2006 that it won't have information on a 2008 LR3? I've tried the other Microcat Download that is supposedly later but it keeps giving me errors, could only get this version to install.

Anyone tried this installation on a Windows 8.1 machine? I'm trying to get it to work but not having any luck.

Microcat is a 32bit app. Or maybe even 16bit, i can't remember for sure.

It's a 32 bit app. Incidentally, all 64bit versions of Windows run 32bit applications natively.

True, but if there are any 16bit libraries in that app, they won't work, because the wow64 will not run 16bit code.

On windows 7 64bit I run windows XP 32bit inside of virtual PC. I see no reason why on windows 8.1 64bit you couldn't do the same thing with hyper-v. It should actually work better, if your hardware supports VT.

Yeah, I was thinking of Win7.
I just kept an XP partition on my Linux box for when I need to use it in depth. Otherwise I just use the online version.
