Land Rover that sat for 5 years.. need some guidance please
I have fallen in love with another ‘99 Disco. This poor thing sat for 5 years. I recently replaced the battery, spark plugs and wiring, water pump, head gaskets, pulleys and associated fluids. She actually started right up, ran pretty hard for about 20 minutes and now she purrs. I haven’t yet serviced the differentials, transmission and gear box. My question is that she shifts through the gears, into low and high just fine. But when I shift in reverse it’s almost like the brakes are stuck. Like the e brake is applied but the truck moves forward okay. I am a Land Rover amateur so please take it easy on me. Do I need to pull the rear calipers and see if they are stuck? Or am I fumbling around like a lost child? Help...

How many miles have you driven? Might be just rust build up on rotors. However, l've over the years...replaced my fair share of calipers on these things...especially right rear...for whatever reason.
Before much more driving, and this could be related to your issue too, check transfer case fluid...if it was sitting for five years...most likely empty. I've had four Dll's and only one had fluid...and that was about a pint. Overlooked terribly by previous owners, and most leak horribly too.
