Exclamation Land Rover Disco V8i ES Transmission Fault

Hello all,

I own an R registration Land Rover Disco V8i ES. It has an automatic 5 speed gear box. Recently the Disco broke down with the following issues:

Gear stick moves normally through the box with no noise
Engine Sounds like a Land Rover
Idles normally
No power to wheels (no forward or reverse motion when in gear)

I am seeking an idea on what could be the potential issues i.e. Gear Box, Drive Shaft, Gear Linkage etc?

Please Help
Mac

Cool

Check the shift cable linkage....it's pretty easy to see from under the truck, start with that and let us know what you find.

Better start with the basics cause r=Rover didn't make a 5 sp automatic, what year, model and mileage on your truck? Is your check engine light on, if so what are the 4 digit fault code numbers?

Sorry my mistake not sure why I wrote "5 speed"
Year is 1998 and it is a V8i ES Disco with 130000 Miles
No engine management lights by the way. Going to check the cable linkage tonight.
Thanks
Mac

There is no cable linkage for the shifting of a 5 sp.
Start over and give us more specific information so we can help you.

Mac, make sure the transfer case did not slip into neutral by accident.
