Default Which Land Rover Special Tool you use?

Hello All,

I was just wondering if anyone on here actually has Land Rover Special tools as described in our workshop manuals for anything. I do all service work to my Disco and wonder if I should make the investment for any particular tool. Thanks!

LRT-001 and LRT-002 are essential. They are, respectively, Long handled 4lB persuasion tool (club hammer) and Multi Function Repair material (Duct Tape).

Joking aside... the only really useful tool that I've not been able to work around as well as using the tool is the special socket for torquing up the propshaft (drive shaft if you're A'Merkin) bolts.

Mine's a diesel defender... V8 defenders and discos may differ

Cheers,

Adam.

I just bought a 38mm cresent wrench from K-Mart for $8, we will see how well it works to remove my engine fan tommorrow.
As far as special tools go, nope. If it wont fit, get a bigger hammer, if it wont come off, get a bigger torch, if it leaks, RTV it.

Yes, I do have a majority of the Land Rover special tools.................at the dealership where I work. There are certain jobs youcan't do without them, and when you need them, it pays to have them at your disposal.

yeah but you also pay, quite a lot, to have them at your disposal... the mechanics at my work wont let my in their shop to use their tools, something about "liability"...

I find I just buy the tools "if" you need them ref particular jobs. Slide hammer / puller was last purchase for centering bearing in the front propshaft.
