Leaking coolant
Hi
I just started up my '02 Disco (with 75K miles) and it looks like niagara falls underneath. Coolant is coming out at a steady dribble. I've tried to see where it's coming from and the pipes and radiator look good. It looks to be coming from thecoolant pump. I'm hoping the gasket has gone and not the pump. I had an Audi TT and the plastic impellers had a tendency to let go big style trashing the interference engine.
Is it straightforward to change the gasket, it seems so on the Rave CD or should I take it to a dealer/mechanic? Any idea what a dealer wold charge for this?
Thanks

RE: Leaking coolant
The gasket isint bad it is the water pump. AndIF it was just the gasket you would be foolish to replace just that anyway.
Replace the water pump and gasket and be done with it, the water pump is $160 at AutoZone.
It is pretty straight forward. It takes a pro about a hour, DIYer about two.
