Default leaking pas

Hi all,

I have a 2000 v8 4.0 disco2 which recently began to lose pas fluid. So far I have only managed to trace the leak to coming from an area above the front cross member. Running alongthe rear of this cross member there are two pipes/hoses which I had assumed were the feed and return to the steering box but the leak appears to be coming from the area above the cross member and below the radiators. Does anyone know the route the PAS lines run and how can they be accessed in this area. I have ACE and AC fitted so it seems that space is limited and I am hoping that I dont have to take the radiators/coolers out to effect a repair.

PS As I live in Scotland its a right hand drive machine.

Regards Remmy7

Sorry Spike,

Yes I mean power assisted steering, I am new to this forum/site but I was amazed by the popularity of Land Rover in the US.

Cheers Remmy7

No problem, that is what I thought you meant but I just wanted to make sure.
Power steering leaks on Rovers is common, here is what you need to do.
First degrease the engine, take it to a do it yourself car wash and use the degreaser to clean the engine bay paying special attention to the power steering box and hoses.
Then drive it for a day and look for the leak. The most common leaks on the power steering is because of a bad hose clamp.
It is also possible for the steering box to leak, but the hoses are most common.
Depending on how bad the leak is you can use a power steering fluid with a stop leak to top off your power steering resevoir.
