Leaving for a 2007 LR4???
Love my 00 with 167K on it but it won't last forever and the body and interior are looking tired. Any thoughts from you folks on what to expect going to a 2007 or similar LR4? I love the snow challenges (really never a challenge) in my baby, but am not a sand digger or rock climber. I intend on keeping her around unless something goes that is very expensive. (Just replacing the SAI for the second time from Roverland)

In the US, the LR4 was new for 2010, so if you're looking 2007 you'll be looking for an LR3. I've heard both are very capable off road but do have their electrical gremlins.
I've also seen that LR4's are in short supply in the US due to the low demand because of the slumping economy, so the majority of the shipments are going oversees to markets like China, where they are buying LR4's with all that interest money our gov't gives them....

I have no idea.
All I know is that it was stuck in snow that was upto the bottom of the front bumper.
The rest of the truck was on a snow covered road, they had it in low, which raised the truck with the SLS, but it would just spin its tires.
Granted they were street tires, but a 12" wide 24" tall snowbank should not have stopped it.
I was on my way home from driving through bumper deep unplowed streets and parking lots in my neighborhood.
The LR4 had a dealer plate, it was a salesman heading to work.
He was quite sheepish.

Indie suspension works great off road, my 2001 Montero had it and I LOVED it.
Everything was tucked up inside the frame, even the diffs, nothing hang down from under the truck, it had more ground clearance than the LR.
Coil springs on all fours...it was great off road.
I agree the LR4's downfall was its tires, why they put 19" rims on a "offroad" truck is beyond me unless they care less about offroad and more about looks.

I've had a few LR3 loaners for when my Discovery was in the shop (when still under LR warranty), and I test-drove a LR4 a few months ago. The main difference between LR3/4 is the engine and control layout. I didn't really care for either of them. We went to the dealer prepared to buy a LR4, and walked away from the test drive 10 minutes later (brought it back early!) and told the amazed sales guy that we actually like our 2003 Discovery more than the $60K new LR4!
The three things I didn't like:
1) Seats are "American-sized" now. I'm not a big guy, not a small guy (5/10, 170 lbs), but I couldn't comfortably rest my elbows on both sides of the arm rests like I can in the Discovery. My wife, at 5'4, didn't have a chance.
2) I guess I don't like the air suspensions. Too wallowy (if that's a word). I prefer the tighter feel of our Disco's coil suspension on the freeway/city streets (yes, unfortunately we don't use it much off-road like we should...).
3) Lots of fancy worthless stuff. LCD screens, blingy chromy, LED lights... Who need this crap? Sure, it looks cool in the pictures but you forget about it one week after you buy the car (unless it breaks, and then you hate it).
My $0.02 worth...
