Default Letting Your Disco Sit-Up For 2 Months...

The truck: '96 Disco I SE7 140000miles

My brakes went bad a few months ago and so I stopped driving my baby. I didn't have the cash at the moment and so it sat for a few weeks. Then a bunch of personal things got in the way and I couldn't change my brakes until just last week.

The Problem:

The brakes are better but the engine runs funny. Idle is good. But the shifting is very quick and almost unnoticable. That, and around 2200 rpms the engine hesitates to and fro. It's very slight, like a sputter but I do loose a little bit of power. It doesn't last long and usually is more noticable on hills under a bit more load. (please please don't be a head gasket.)

It isn't running warm and I have checked and re-checked all my fluids and they are all good. Any suggestions as to what the issue is?

How old was the gas, it may have fouled out?
I would throw in a full can of 91 plus octane and 2 cans of SeaFoam, see if you can clean out your fuel system. Also change your engine oil, that after sitting, is full of acid build up.
As for the possible overheat, you'll need to search farther on that.
