Default Liability only or full coverage

What’s everyone carrying for auto insurance on their rig? Any payout experience and how did it turn out? Book value is very low and certainly below what I have invested in mods. Changed to liability only cause I figure it would be a fight to recover what I think it’s worth unless I get an appraisal.

I keep full coverage because we can't afford to replace it if something were to happen to it, but you're right that the value isn't really there. Hers is stock though. Getting an appraisal on a modified rig may not be a bad idea.

I have liability and comprehensive, but not collision. It's old and not worth very much "by the book." I think that a lot of it depends on what is included/mandated in your insurance. For some carriers and localities aftermarket and custom parts and accessories are covered and some are not. If you have a lot of money tied up in custom parts its probably worth checking out to see what of that (if anything) is covered as it might be an additional coverage you can opt in to if you want.

i carried full coverage on my stock '04. we had some snow and ice last year and my daughter slid into the car in front of her.

insurance totalled out the Discovery due to bumper, hood and driver's side fender damage. we got a check for a little over $6,000.00. i bought the Rover back from the insurance company, bent the fender back in place , bought and installed a used hood (same color as the truck) and bought and installed an aftermarket steel bumper. shoot. probably the only Rover i've made money on. i now only carry liability on that one mainly because i have five (5) drivers in the house and need to keep the costs down.

Full Coverage.

I'd be stupid to run anything other than full coverage in NJ.

Full coverage. The premium cost for me between full coverage and something half as substantial was only a couple hundred more per year. Glass alone on these trucks are worth carrying it. Windshield replacement is nearly $1000.

Full coverage if you can afford it!

I had mine hit a fire hydrant(long story) and dent the rear quarter. Insurance paid out just over 6k and totalled it. I bought it back and fixed the damage. I now only carry liability, but only because it is now "totalled"

6 months about $250 more. Book value seems below $3500 in the Midwest although sale ask prices much higher. I’m surprised at the $6k payouts.
