Lifespan of Kingsbourne Wires
When I bought my D2 about 30,000 miles ago it was supposed to have a fairly new set of Kingsbourne wires on it but I just pulled off the #6 wire while looking into a P0306 code and the insulation cracked off the last inch or so. I ended up trimming it back and reattaching the terminal which worked but it makes me wonder how bad the others are. Is this typical? Should I expect to need new wires every 30,000 miles?
I myself have been guilty of thinking I did or bought something 10k miles ago when it was actually 50k miles ago. It seems the older I get, the easier it is to make that mistake. Not saying that's what happened, just thinking out loud. (I do that a lot more the older I get too

Only told they were new. The PO bought the truck with around 68k on it and when I bought it the mileage was just about 82k. He said he had done the wires fairly recently. I'm at 109k now so the wires have between 30 and 40k on them. Either way, the insulation under the boot at the plug was lighter blue and chalky looking and so brittle that it broke part between my fingers so they need to be replaced. Maybe I'll do the valley gasket while I'm at it.
