Default Lining up the lower intake - injector ports are partially blocked?

I have a question on installing the lower intake manifold.

Check out this picture

Quite a bit (5-8mm) of the head is blocking the injector port. Is this normal? I can't think of any variables here except for decking the block/head, but I only had a few thousandths removed and can't imagine that making this big a difference

It's the same on both sides, and aligned correctly to the bolt holes

I did not notice that upon our installation. We replaced all injectors. Im thinking that the injectors are flat and wont reach that indentation anyway. Also the rectangular opening below will only allow spray from injectors, IMO.
