Default Location of knock sensor: left or right, front or rear of block?

I'm keeping my son's D2 for the summer.

Been 4+ years since he and I (mostly he), pulled engine to have flanged liners installed and rebuild the engine (friend of his' father gave the D2 to my son after it slipped a sleeve).

Haven't been under it since then.

I am getting a P0332 (knock sensor bank 2) code, as well as P0505 (IAC) and P0441 (infamous purge valve -- my son says he that when this code comes up, he first flushes the valve with brake cleaner, then WD40 and it's good for another 6-12 months).

The vehicle did experience a bit of pinging (rattling?) under acceleration when the code first popped up, but not since after driving it a couple of short trips. Really scared me, sounded like a like a high-ish frequency (5-10 cycles/sec) body/heat shield type of rattle but clearly emanating from the engine. Was worried maybe it might be a collapsed lifter but no ticking or other sounds in the rocker covers or elsewhere on the block when using a mechanics stethoscope to listen, and otherwise it purrs like a kitten at idle after the air pumps shuts off.

Re. the knock sensor code:

1. I recall there was only 1 knock sensor on the block (am I right? if so, so why a bank 2 code?); and

2. It was located toward the back of the block on the bank 1 side (1357 cylinders, LH or drivers side).

Again, been a long time since I crawled under the beast, so wanted to get oriented before I get on my back and do a visual inspection -- it seems the wiring on these things breaks not too infrequently.

Any quick orientation on the knock sensor location and any experience with the code itself would be appreciated (maybe the mating/contact surface with the block just needs cleaned or the bolt tightened? or once this pops up, just get a new sensor?)

It's under the LH Side Manifold with a heat shield over it. Inspect the wiring really well, it sits so tight to the Manifold it may have melted.

There's a knock sensor on both sides of the block
